Patent Pending

"Patent pending" is a legal designation or expression that can be used once a patent application for a product or a process has been filed, but prior to the patent being issued (or alternatively abandoned by the applicant). The expression serves to notify competitors that they may liable for damages should they choose to copy the product or process, if the pending patent is granted.
