Waterfront has advised Egress Software in relation to the £2.2m investment in the company by Albion Ventures, a UK-based venture capital fund. Egress Software was founded in 2007 and is the market-leading provider of on-demand Cloud-based email and file encryption services to organisations in the public and private sectors.
The Waterfront team advising on this transaction was led by Matt Cunningham with support from Patrick Peake and Fifi Conroy.
Bird & Bird provided legal advice to Albion Ventures.
Tony Pepper, CEO and co-founder of Egress, said: “There are times when you need to have 100% confidence in your legal team and this investment was one of those times. I was absolutely delighted with the service Waterfront provided. Matt Cunningham was able to cut through the complexities of the lengthy legal agreements and took the time to ensure we fully understood all aspects of the agreements. We have worked with Waterfront on numerous matters over the years. They understand what high growth technology companies like Egress need from a law firm and they are always very pragmatic and commercial in their approach. I look forward to working with them on many more projects.”
Matt Cunningham said: “It’s great to see a client we have acted for since incorporation go on to develop into a successful business. I’m really pleased for Tony and all the team at Egress. With the investment and the support of the experienced team at Albion they will be able to take the business to the next level.”
