We'll start with an easy one... when was cab:app established?    cab:app was established in November 2010, however we have spent the last 18 months designing, developing and testing our app technology platform so that it is ready for the full launch this month.     What's your elevator pitch?   As a London cabbie for over 10 years, I invented cab:app using the latest mobile app technology to help fellow drivers provide the public with a convenient, accessible, reliable and safe way to hail a taxi anytime, anywhere, direct from their mobile phone.   My aim is to set new standards in taxi travel by making it easy for passengers to hail a licensed cab in any town across the UK and Ireland from a single app. cab:app offers a range of door to door services to meet the different needs and budgets of customers including Hail Now, Pre-bookings and Fixed Price fares to help make those important travel connections with road, rail and air. We’ve even included a secure mobile payment facility within the app in partnership with Datacash, a Mastercard company, which makes it easy and convenient for passengers to pay using a range of major debit and credit cards.   Finally, it was important to me that cab:app was accessible to as many passengers and Hackney carriage drivers as possible to offer a great service, so it is available free to download across a range of smartphones including iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry and Nokia.   What is the one piece of advice that you would give to someone just about to go into business on their own?   Anything is possible if you are willing to work hard and put in the long hours that are required, as there are no shortcuts to long term success. Initial research, planning, a willingness to always improve and creativity are all vital ingredients when starting your own business. Make sure your product stands out from the crowd, be different, be bold and don’t be afraid to ask for help or advice along the way, as everyone makes mistakes and this is the only way you will learn.   What is the best business decision that you've ever made?    No doubt that finding the highest quality and trustworthy business partners from day one was vital in creating a platform that is highly scalable. This includes my co-founders, technology developers, PR/marketing agencies, lawyers and accountants.   And the worst...? (If you're prepared to share!)   When we first came up with the idea for cab:app in August 2010 the mobile app space was embryonic and developing at a very fast pace. We were so focused on developing phase one of cab:app that we only became aware of some of the newer innovations in mobile apps, such as push messaging and mobile card payments, towards the end of the first phase of development. This resulted in us having to defer a major consumer launch while our developers implemented these important new features. During this setback we did learn from that mistake, and it gave us the opportunity to add other new features which clearly differentiate cab:app from other taxi apps.   What are you going to do differently over the next 12 months? (Particularly in light of the current economic climate).     As a start-up company launching during a tough economic climate, our business model has been designed to remain flexible and adapt to different market conditions by combining a highly scalable mobile technology platform with low operational costs. There is nothing specific that we plan to do differently over the next 12 months but it is vital that we are learning, improving and coming up with creative ideas every day to make sure our business continually evolves.     Find out more about cab:app Limited at www.cabapp.net
