Discrimination
Employees and prospective employees have statutory protection against discrimination on a number of grounds, namely:
- sex (which includes pregnancy, marital or civil partnership status, gender reassignment);
- race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origins;
- disability;
- religion or belief;
- sexual orientation; and
- age.
There is no minimum period during which an employee must have been employed in order to be eligible for protection against discrimination.
There is no statutory maximum on the amount of compensation which can be awarded for a successful claim of discrimination.
